3/8 Barb x 1/8 NPT Brass Fitting for Filler Neck Vent Line Vapor Trapper Installations

This fitting is designed for use with vehicles that utilize vented gas caps in place of  threaded gas tank vents. Common examples include:
  • Early Ford Mustangs (1964½ through 1970)
  • Many vehicles from the 1950s and 1960s
Installation:

1) Remove the Filler Tube: Take off the existing filler tube.

2) Modify the Tube: Drill and tap the filler tube to accommodate the fitting.

3) Install the Fitting: Attach the 3/8" barb x 1/8" NPT brass fitting by screwing in the threaded portion of the fitting into the now-threaded filler neck hole.

4) Attach fuel hose to the barb portion of the fitting and run inline to Vapor Trapper. Be sure to run a ~6-8" vertical portion of the hose immediately from the filler neck before running to the Vapor Trapper to prevent any back splash from driving, or filling the tank, from entering the Vapor Trapper media.

NOTE: In certain situations it is possible to mount the Vapor Trapper in-line or even below the fuel tank AS LONG as the portion of hose immediately after the gas tank fitting has enough vertical incline to prevent gas from filling the hose and saturating the Vapor Trapper, or forming any type of P-Trap, which immediately would block all air from flowing through the hose and render the Vapor Trapper, and fuel tank venting, useless.

    Venting Process:

Route the vent line from the fitting to a Vapor Trapper and then back out to the atmosphere.
Replace the Fuel Cap: Use a non-vented cap to ensure the new venting system works correctly. If using a non-vented fuel cap is not possible, use JB-Weld to seal the existing vented cap from allowing air to flow.

    Material:

Made from durable CA360 brass, this set of hose barb used for its resistance to corrosion and long-lasting performance. Adhering to industry standards, these fittings provide reliable, leak-free connections that function under low to medium pressure conditions.
